2016 parliamentary candidate of Progressive People’s Party for the Bolgatanga East Constituency, Starling Ayinenongma Baba has given a signal to cross carpet to a different political if what he considers as discrimination towards party members is not stopped.

Registering his displeasure exclusively with A1radioonline.com, Mr. Ayinenongma stated that special preference was given to his colleague candidates who worked with Group Ndoum, a business entity belonging to the founder of the party, Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum.

“The national executives, the way they unequally distributed resources, if you observe the whole nation, those who were really GN workers and came out to contest as parliamentary candidates, were more resourceful than individuals who came from other organizations, not GN” Mr. Ayinenonma lamented.

Mr. Ayinenongma obtained just 132 votes in the 2016 elections having being whipped by incumbent Member of Parliament, Dr. Dominic Ayine who won with a mammoth 10,175 votes.

Nonetheless, Mr. Ayinenogma believes he could have “uprooted” Dr. Ayine if his party had equally distributed resources to all candidates.

“I think if resources were being given, for me, those votes that Ayine had would have reduced, even though if I had not taken the seat” he stated.

The “misbehaviour” of national secretary of the party according to Mr. Ayinenonma is a contributory factor pressuring him and others cross carpet to other political parties.

“When he came the last round, and the way he interacted with the executives of the constituency, run them down as if nobody over there can reach the position he is, is a regrettable thing”

The former Bolgatanga East Constituency parliamentary candidate is the only person representing PPP in the Upper East Region on radio discussion.

Mr. Ayinongma who bemoaned that his efforts are not recognized threatens to lay down his tools and possibly join a different political party if happenings of the party remain same.

“The way others are leaving the party, there is a likelihood that some of us, will leave too. And very soon, certain letters will come out” he revealed.
