Officials of the Ghana Fire Service has rejected a building provided for them to start operation in the Nabdam district of the Upper East region.

This move by the Ghana Fire Service was disclosed at a media engagement in the Upper East regional capital, Bolgatanga.

Disclosing this, Upper East regional fire officer ACFO Douglas D. Koyiri said the building provided by the Assembly lacks the basic requirements to be used as a Fire Station.

He indicated that five firs stations were earmarked to be made operational but after assessment, the building provided by the Assembly for the operations of the fire service was not in the best of shapes and lack basic amenities.

He added that a fire tender meant for the people of Nabdam for that reason been given to the people of Zuarungu.

He said “We do not just want to open fire stations but we want to open good fire stations. For us to use a building as a fire station it must have some basics because a lot goes into it. We need garages to park our fire tenders because we can’t park them in the sun”.

Fire officer ACFO Douglas D. Koyiri also revealed that the service is challenged with access to water in some of the Districts hence affecting the effective delivery of service in those Districts.
