Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo has asked the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to tolerate dissenting views because that is the recipe for a better democracy the country prides itself on.
Isaac Adongo’s comments come after the Brong Ahafo Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye DC was given the beating of his life in Atebubu by members of his party.
According to him, it’s unfortunate that a party that prides itself to hold rule of law in high esteem will descend on their party member just because he expresses opposing views on issues in government.
He said “members of the NPP and members on the other side must be as tolerant as we have been democracy thrives on giving people the opportunity to express themselves and even if they are one of you and you disagree with what they said one should not suffer any harm. No one should rejoice over what has happened to him but we should condemn it. I am a strong critic of this government so does that mean I should be beaten? No, we need to get such people who express different opinions on issues closer so they can profess solutions and help build our politics and country”.
