The Vice President of IMANI Ghana, Kofi Bentil has applauded the New Patriotic Party government for updating the country on the health status of the Vice President.

The Presidency yesterday in a statement indicated that the Vice President took ill and had to undergo some tests. The statement indicated further that he was under medical observation by his doctors.

The statement was condemned by some section of social media who thought it was not prudent to reveal the health status of the Vice President.

But speaking on Accra-based JOY News’ News File, Kofi Bentil believes it was the best move by the Communications Directorate of the Presidency.

He said “The health status of late President Mills and how long it took had a serious effect on governance in this country. All kinds of things happened but I think that what this government has started is a good thing. We need to be updated on the health status of our leaders, I think they should continue. You can always leave some details out but it is a good thing. We should also find a way to make sure that we have a means within the country to take care of our leaders at least at a preliminary level”.

Meanwhile, the Vice President has flown out of the country to the United Kingdom where he will be on sick leave.
