MTNMobile giant MTN continues to fly high despite the numerous challenges it has faced over the last months.

According to the National Communication Authority’s (NCA) latest report, the mobile operator gained over 2000,000 subscribers in July of this year; the highest subscriber base among its peers.

According to the report, MTN continues to increase its subscriber base despite its poor services.

The mobile operator saw its subscriber base increase from 12,587,804 in June to 12,792,148 in July claiming 46.95 of the total market share.

Vodafone maintained its number two position and at the same time gained over 43,000 subscribers.

From 5,748,538 in June, Vodafone’s subscriber base increased to 5,792,061 in July.

The telco now owns a little over 21 per cent of the total market subscriber share.
At number three is TIGO which also experienced a minor increase in its subscriber base.

It gained over 16,000 subscribers in the period increasing from 3,738,104 in June to 3,754,624 in July and claiming almost 14 per cent of the total mobile market share.

Meanwhile, Airtel, Glo and Expresso suffered a plunge in their subscriber base.
Airtel’s mobile subscriber base fell from 3,118,935 in June to 3,117,543 representing a little over 11 per cent of the total market share.

GLO appears to be still struggling in its bid to become one of the top three players in the country.

Still at number five, a position it has occupied for some time now, its subscriber base fell by 0.15 per cent.

It now commands six percent of the total market share. The least subscribed telecom operator Expresso continued its losing streak in the period.

Expresso saw its market share decreasing by 0.01 per cent to 154,824 in July after recording 157,828 for June.

Its total market share averagely now stands at one per cent.
