The Financial Division of the Accra High Court will today deliver its judgement in the GYEEDA case involving former National Coordinator Abuga Pele and Philip Asibit.

Abuga Pele and Asibit have been standing trial for committing acts that led to the lose of GHC 4million to the state.

Abuga Pele has been accused of entering into a contract with Philip Asibit to provide consultancy services without recourse to the then Attorney General and Minister for Youth and Sports.

They’ve both pleaded not guilty.

The trial has travelled four years in the court, beginning during the erstwhile Mahama administration when the state levelled two charges of causing financial loss to the state and defrauding the state under false pretences against the two accused persons.

Within the four year period, the trial has travelled to the Court of Appeal and back to the High Court.

It remains to be seen what will become the fate of the two accused persons as Justice Afia Serwah Asare Botchwey’s court delivers its judgment.

Should they be found guilty by the court, they will likely go to prison for a minimum of 10 years.
