Meanwhile, after four attempts to select a district chief executive, members of the Kasena-Nankana west district assembly have finally settled on former educationist, George Nonterah.
The assembly members on Thursday gave Mr. Nonterah a 79.7 % endorsement at Paga, the district capital. Out of a total of 64 assembly members, 51 voted in favor Mr. Nonterah, 12 voted against him while the remaining 1 vote was a spoilt ballot.
This was Mr. Nonterah’s second attempt to win the favor of the assembly members. He was rejected by the members in his first attempt ten days ago.
His predecessor, Thomas Adda Dalu was rejected on two occasions after President Mahama renominated him to serve a second term as DCE for Kasena-Nankana west.
George Nonterah’s confirmation therefore makes it the fourth time this year that the Kasena-Nankana West district assembly members have had to vote to select a DCE.
New assembly members were quickly appointed by the regional minister and sworn in to replace the ones whose appointments had earlier been revoked before voting took place.
The assembly’s meeting was also reconvened because it was earlier convened by a presiding member whose appointment had been revoked.
After he was sworn-in as the new DCE for Kasena-Nankana west, George Nonterah had called for support from the assembly members and the district as whole, to support him work to bring development to the area.
