Over 40 people have picked forms as at Wednesday to contest for executive positions of the New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region.

Nominations for members seeking positions at the regional level opened on Tuesday and are expected to close on Friday 24th March, 2018.

Member of the regional Election Committee, Edward Nchor in an interview with A1 News said the turn has been very encouraging.

“We have over 40 people who have picked forms but as I say, they are still coming in their numbers so we cannot be definite until it is over. So far so good, it’s very smooth, we don’t have challenges yet and we don’t expect challenges”

According to Nchor aspirants who failed to meet the requirements will not get their monies refunded because “It’s like West Africa Exams Council and when you fail you fail you don’t go to WAE and say they should give you your money. And so it is also a contribution that they are giving to the party so there is nothing like giving money back to anybody

Mr. Nchor entreated the aspirants to eschew politics of insults and campaign based on issues now and during the elections.

After the filing of the forms, the regional levels would be held from April 21-24th across the country.

Vetting would also be held from March 27 to 29, 2018 while vetting results shall be released not later than March 31, 2018.

Some aspirants in the Upper East Region expressed their satisfaction over the processes so far.

“I’m a woman who is already working with the grassroots, I’m a woman who is ready to serve the party but to be served, I’m a woman who is working to mobilized and enlarge the women’s wing, I’m a woman who is ready to ensure that our party is move to the next level. When you are looking for a woman to lead the women wing, I think I’m the best lady as at now” Georgina Ayamba, NPP Regional Women Organizer hopeful revealed her competence.

A Regional Secretary hopeful, Assam Passim Samuel was optimistic that his track record to have provided delegates with certificates during their tenure of office makes him standout among his competitors.

“For now, I want to make sure that, if I am made the Regional Secretary, delegates will not have to go about trying to use words to identify themselves. I will make sure that all delegates will have Identity Cards to prove that they are executive members of our party”
