The Bolgatanga Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service, Madison Amokase has warned individuals and corporate land developers to desist from encroaching on lands belonging to public schools.

“I’m not talking about any particular party per say but if you are an educated person and by ability of the fact that you are an assembly member, presiding member or government appointee [and] you use advantage of that position to rezone parts of school land, then your education is useless”

In an interview with A1 NEWS after a visit to Tindonsobligo Primary School which was ripped off last Friday, Mr. Amokase observed that encroachment of school lands poses a threat to school children, teachers and school properties.

“Supposed there is fight they can’t enter to quench it because people are building are over” he expressed worried.

He has therefore admonished the Lands Commission to stop issuing permit to those who seek to acquire lands belonging to schools

“The young boys are conniving with some Tindaamas [custodians of land] and they are selling the lands. So, I think the lands department must also sit up because we can’t say they are doing this thing at the blind eye of the land department. Some of them including the assembly men connive with the land department to sell the school lands”
