Nabdam MP donates educational material to BECE students

In preparation ahead of the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), 800 exercise books and 800 mathematical sets have been donated to the Nabdam  district  education service for onward distribution to final year pupils of Junior High SchoolNabdams in who will participating in this years’ BECE examinations.

The kind gesture was made known at the District office of the Ghana Education Service in Kongo, where the Member of Parliament for the Nabdam constituency, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane unveiled the donation package.

Addressing officials of Ghana Education Service (GES) and community members at the ceremony, Dr. Nawaane described BECE examination as a stepping stone and as well an important part of grooming in the educational journey in life.

According to the Member of Parliament, his interest over the years is to make sure pupils are motivated before taking the BECE exams, to enable them come out with flying colour

The donation included a set of Jerseys and Six thousand two hundred Ghana cedis, Ghc6, 200.00 from his 2017 GETfund to enable GES conduct examination for the students.

“The BECE examination is at hand and we know the importance of BECE exams to our community, to our district. It is a stepping stone to any further education any individual will have be it to the SSS level, be it to the university, to become a master’s holder or a doctor like me standing here, it is the biggest stepping stone”. He recounted

The Talensi district director Josephine Mosore, who also acts as the Nabdam district director of GES expressed satisfaction with the kind gesture shown by the Member of Parliament especially for his effort in getting them a renovated, comfortable office.

“We are grateful to the Nabdam Member of Parliament Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane for what he did for us, he is doing for us and yet to do for us. For the accommodation, each time i came, i saw a lot of them having their office under the tree and I really could not complain because, our supposed office, as you can see the windows are closed, poor ventilation, lighting system is equally poor, the director’s office is nothing to write home about, the accountant office the same”.

Mrs. Mosore said she is satisfied with cooperation exhibited so far by the MP; she made the revelation while receiving the Mathematical sets and books donated by Member of Parliament for the area, which will be given to the Nabdam students in the upcoming BECE examination.
