The Upper East Regional Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Donatus Atanga Akamugri, has said the fierce competition amongst members of the NDC for party positions is clear indication that the New Patriotic Party government has failed Ghanaians woefully.

According to him, staunch members of the umbrella party prior to the 2016 general elections campaigned against the party with hopes that the NPP government will fulfill all promises.

“If you see how the NDC people are struggling and competing and then heckling each  other for the positions, it is a clear indication that NPP has failed Ghanaians woefully”.

He adds that a year and a half down the line since the NPP came to power, there has not been anything tangible the NPP can boost of haven done for the people of the Upper East Region.

He said government’s failure to deliver on the promises has resulted in the return of many party members and an increase in the number of people vying for party positions at the various constituencies in the region.

“Before the election…why is it that some people will campaign against their own party. The thought that NPP was promising everything that they can do. And thought it really was going to happen and that is why people got scared and voted for them”.

Mr. Akamugri was addressing matters concerning the postponement of the Bolgatanga Central Constituency and 15 others in the country on A1 Radio when he made the comments.

The regional secretary also criticized government for stopping works on the Bolgatanga-Bawku road against their own promise to complete works on that major stretch.

He threw shades at the government saying “if it is the question of sacking some people and replacing others, that one is not a performance”.
