Victims of the recent violent attack on Naduni, a predominantly farming Konkomba community in the Chereponi district of the Northern Region, have received relief items from the Konkomba Youth Association (KOYA).

It will be recalled that on June 1, 2018, a conflict broke out between Chokosis and Konkkombas over a parcel of farmland at Naduni, a village in the Chereponi District where two Konkombas lost their lives. Aside the two human lives that were lost, 10 houses, 5 motorbikes, foodstuffs and other properties running into thousands of Ghana Cedis, were burnt into ashes.

The leadership of KOYA and the Chiefs of Kikpakpaang (land of Konkombas), together with the Regional Security Committee (RESEC) have been working hard to restore peace in the area.

As part of its peace tour to the area, KOYA on Friday June 22, 2018, through its National President, Charles Nyojah, and on behalf of the Chiefs and people of Kikpakpaang, presented some relief items including sleeping Mats, foodstuffs and assorted used clothing to the victims.

Speaking to the victims, Mr. Nyojah, reiterated the need for to remain calm and allow the government to look into the matter so that permanent peace is restored as soon as possible. He urged them to live on the little that has been given while waiting for response from the Government as was promised by the Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed.

The President also used the opportunity to appeal to individuals and charitable organisations to assist victims of the disturbances.

He thanked the Northern Regional Minister and the Government for prompt response to the cry of KOYA by visiting the troubled community to ascertain the true cause of the fight.
