Prof. Abole confirmed as DCE for Bolgatanga East

President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the position of District Chief Executive for the newly created Bolgatanga East District on Thursday received an overwhelming endorsement of members of the assembly.

 Prof. Emmanuel Abugre Abole, a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, was recently nominated by President Akufo-Addo for the position. All fourteen elected and appointed members of the assembly voted YES to confirm the professor to become the first DCE of the area.

In his confirmation speech, Prof. Abole said he is very much aware of the new landscape that he is stepping into from the field of academia where he had worked all his life to a terrain so diverse and complex. He indicated that the shift has serious implications for his style and conduct of leadership.

He believes, with the experience and exposure, he will employ creative and innovative ways to address the various needs and challenges that confront his area.

“About seven years ago, in 2011, the struggle for the creation of a new constituency cum district started. Down the memory lane, I remember such stalwarts as the Chiefs, assemblymen and other distinguished personalities in the district played various roles geared towards the creation of what we are witnessing today”. He said

Speaking on A1 radio flagship morning programme, Daybreak Upper East (DBUE) on Friday, Prof. Abole, stressed the need to work closely with government functionaries, chiefs, assembly members, political parties, Civil Society within and outside the district to bring the needed development to the District.

He, expressed appreciation to the President for believing in him which led to his nomination and subsequent approval.
