Upper East Regional Minister Ambassador Paulina Abayage on Thursday evening received a rousing welcome by residents and members of the governing New Patriotic Party as she takes over the administration of the region as the first female regional minister.

At the forecourt of her official residence where she addressed a cheering crowd in her honour, Ambassador Abayage, pledged to put the region on the map and called on all to support her while promising an open-door working relationship with all stakeholders.

Before she reminded members of the NPP that there is an agenda for them to prosecute, the regional minister promised to visit them at the bases to interact with them so as they can work together to make the party stronger in the region.

“I am here to join this region to tell our story. But whiles we are doing that, we don’t lose sight of the fact that we are just doing that much but there is also that much to be done. So, I am going to join the Regional Coordinating Council and the Municipal and District Assemblies, our traditional authorities, the Regional Security Agencies and we are going to work together with us the citizens, the indigenes of this region and those who have come to stay with us in this region.

This region is our region, we collectively own it, we must collectively build it. No compromise on that. It’s our supper project. Nobody will tell our story for us if we don’t tell them our story. And the Upper East Region is one of the most peacefully regions in this country”; she stressed.

Ambassador Abayage observed that the region has more than ten distinct tribes and all are living peacefully except in few instances where some pockets of distances ensued.

She promised: “We will bring everybody on board. We will do the best we can and we will make sure that the best we do affects everybody but then, I will need your support. I will need you to hold my hand. I will need you to give me the support that I need. If we are able to stand together and work together, we will put this region on the map for all the good reasons.”

Upper East Regional chairman of the NPP, Anthony Namoo, assured the minister of full support from the leadership and members of the party.
