The Coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations in Health says, government’s idea of deploying drones into the health sector in the country is premature.

The Coalition argues that, the fundamentals and requirements in the Health Care System have not been addressed appropriately, which should have been the main concern of government.

The Coalition’s view is in line with the stance of the Ghana Medical Association, that government should suspend the deal for proper consultation to be made before implementation.

Noble Alagskoma is with the Coalition of NGOs in Health and has been speaking to A1 News.

“I have no objection about that and I think we all need to welcome it. Any policy that is supposed to enhance or improve health delivery, we must all welcome it. …but we are putting the Cat before the Horse. Have we taken stock of the Health Facilities nationwide, what are their needs? We need critical staff and equipment to make the facilities work better.”

Meanwhile, the Minority Parliament, laments that despite they voting against the deal, the Majority in Parliament has been able to get its way through to have the contract approved.

Dr.Clement Apaak is the Member of Parliament for Builsa South, said they raised concerns about the cost in the implementation of the Drone system in Health Care delivery in Ghana.

According to him, the Majority in Parliament used their numbers to get the contract approved.
