The Chief Executive of the Bolgatanga Municipality in the Upper East Region, Joseph Amiyuure Atura has assured the people and Traditional Authorities of more job opportunities as the New Year, 2019 rolls by.

According to Hon. Amiyuure, 2019 is going to be a good year as there will be more opportunities to people to start businesses and create jobs for others as outlined in the 2019 National Budget.

The 2019 Budget gives some hopes as it focuses on building a more dynamic and stronger economy; to create jobs and prosperity, by accelerating economic growth, modernizing Agriculture, Industrializing the economy and protecting the vulnerable in various communities.

Though many jobs were created in 2018 through the implementation of the National Builders Corp which employed closed to ten thousand youth in the Municipality, 2019 will do more in terms of jobs creations for both graduates and non-graduates alike.” He explained.

Hon. Amiyuure said this during the third ordinary meeting of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, with much assurance that, the Assembly is working hard to ensure sustainability of peace and order.

Aside the job creation in the Municipality, Hon. Amiyuure admonished all and sundry to take sanitation matters seriously if not, anyone found guilty of pouring their domestic wastes into gutters and water bodies will be prosecuted. In 2018 some persons in the Municipality were arrested, prosecuted and punished.

“….protecting our environment especially our river bodies should be a concern for all. I should say, 2019, anyone who caught pouring refuse into gutter will face the full rigours of the law.

As we are all aware, the rainy season is over and the bushes are completely dry and can easily catch fire, so we plead with our farmers to desist from indiscriminate bush burning and use of unapproved agrochemicals on their farms.” He said.

He also encouraged the Assembly to work harder to improve upon their Internally Generated Fund and exploit and develop the local economy.
