Upper East Regional Minister, Paulina Patience Abayage has been paying courtesy calls on some paramount chiefs in the region. The move is aimed at fostering a good working relationship with the traditional leaders and their people, as well as solicit their support to enable her manage the affairs of the region.

Madam Abayage who on Thursday, January 10, paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Paga Traditional Area, Paga Pio, Pe Charles Awiah Awampaga II  and Naba Anonsona Abisa III of the Mirigu Traditional Area, recounted how the frequent changes of regional ministers in the region have brought about low productivity.

“For some time, the region has witnessed frequent reshuffling of ministers with some serving less than a year in office and it is something that needs attention. Imagine after taking your time to draw a plan, ready to execute it and you are being asked by the high office to go to another sector or region. What this means is that, all what you have planned to do, have to be abandoned and the one that will be coming too, will have to develop a new plan. So, I think it hinders development. And it is by these acts, over the years that are causing the region to suffer serious inadequate developmental projects. I therefore need all your support both physically and spiritually in order for me to be fit in the office.” She explained.

The minister assured the people of the Kassena-Nankana Municipality of 10 dams to be constructed in 2019.

“This year, the Municipality will be receiving 10 dams to facilitate and improve all year round farming for both graduates and non-graduates farmers. I believe some people will like to refer to these dams as dugouts, but whether dams or dugouts, they are equally important to our brothers and sisters, who are farmers and also important to the traders in the market. So, let us all appreciate the efforts the president is putting across.” She said.

The Paramount Chief of the Paga Traditional Area, Pe Charles Awiah Awampaga promised that he and his people will always remember the Regional Minister in their prayers and asked her to always count on them for support.
