Upper East Regional Minister, Paulina Patience Abayage has extended her courtesy calls to some religious leaders and has called for their continuous support to develop the region.
Madam Abayage explained that, there are still a wide range of development needs to be attended to across the region and government alone cannot provide them all at the same time, hence, the need for all hands on deck, especially from the religious bodies, to ensure that, communities don’t lack some basic amenities for a long time.
“… look at our roads, they are in terrible state, and we all know that, government cannot do all, therefore, what we residents ought to do is, to support government with the little things that we can do in our various communities. Providing furniture to some schools should be our top priority and I believe that, the religious bodies can chip-in to help; so why not partner with government in that direction?
I wish and hope we will all take our time and start doing the little things that our communities deserve, whiles waiting for government to help us with the big ones.” She said.
Madam Abayage also challenged the religious leaders, especially those in the Bolgatanga Municipality, to extend their knowledge on sanitation to their members, noting that, the regional capital needs to set examples for the districts to follow.
On his part, His Most Rev. Alfred Agyenta, Bishop of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese of the Catholic Church, was happy with the call and gave the assurance that, the Catholic Church will do what it could to complement governments moves towards the development of the region.
“As we all know, we as a church, we are always there for everybody and will continue to foster development based on our capacity to any community we can. I must tell you that, this your mission will be successful and despite the diversity of people in the region, we all have a common goal which is peace. Indeed, we rally with you both physically and spiritually.” He assured.
