The Executive Director of Widows and Orphans Movement (WOM) in the Upper East Region, Fati Abigail Abdulai has asked members of the minority side in Parliament to listen to calls from the public and render an unqualified apology to all widows in the country for their bloody widow placards against newly elected MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.
Speaking on A1 News, Miss Fati Abdulai said the act by the minority was uncalled for and need not to be applauded by any learned person.
“It was an unfortunate act by the minority and I think a country like ours, does not endorse such act. All what I expect the minority in Parliament to do is, to render an apology not to only to Madam Lydia Alhassan, wife of the late Kyerematen Agyarko, but to all widows in the whole world for that loose act. She said.
Meanwhile the Majority in Parliament is still insisting that MPs on the Minority side must render an unqualified apology to the wife of their late colleague, for tagging her “bloody widow” before her swearing in as the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon on Tuesday, February 5.
The women of the Majority Caucus, chaired by Deputy Majority Leader, Sarah Adwoa Safo, at a press conference, expressed gross disappointment at the attitude and language of the Minority members. The Majority women described the act as disrespectful and an inhumane treatment and an attack on the dignity and integrity of womanhood.
