A maiden musical concert and exhibition has been held in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region to showcase the rich culture and heritage of the region.

The program dubbed ‘Made In Bolga’ brought together craft dealers, local food vendors and traditional artisans in and around Bolgatanga to showcase to the world the rich culture of the region.

Organizers of the program BBT led by Soorebia, a popular Bolgatanga —based musician in an interview said the purpose of the initiative was to promote the region and unite musicians in the region.

“The music that I do, I always try my best to blend Frafra and so when you hear it, you will know that I come from Bolga. I always want to showcase where I come from either than music. So basically, Made In Bolga is to exhibit everything creative from the region” he said.

Made In Bolga which promises to be bigger next year according to Soorebia hopes to “unite people of the region through exhibition and musical concert”.

Upper East Regional Minister, Paulina Patience Abayage who graced the occasion commended the organizers for taking a step towards promoting the region to the world.

“What pleases my heart is the young ones who are taking the bull by the horns and doing things that our fathers didn’t do. This is the first of its kind organized by an individual. My mission and vision for this region is that the Upper East Region will be sold to the whole world”, she stated.

According to her such initiatives are in line with government’s passion of empowering the private sector for the growth of the economy.

“The future of this region belongs to you the young ones and I am proud of the vibrant development of the private sector and you are doing things in your own small corners to improve upon the fortunes of this region. We have two choices, to watch the region destroy or to help it develop. I will prefer that we help it develop”

Some exhibitors and patrons speaking exclusively with A1 News expressed satisfaction of the program.

The program which was climaxed with a musical concert brought together musicians from the northern enclave to perform at the Catering Rest House.
