MTN marks 10 years of mobile money service in Ghana

It’s been 10 years since the introduction of mobile money service in Ghana by MTN-Ghana and in celebrating this achievement, the telecommunication company has launched a promotion to reward its customers.

The Upper East Regional launch of the promotion on Tuesday June 18, was preceded by awareness creation on some streets of the Bolgatanga Municipality on some products offered by MTN and also the use of the mobile money platform for daily transactions.

The promotion dubbed, “MoMo @10 Consumer Promo” is a point-building reward system designed to reward MTN MoMo customers who use their MoMo wallets to perform their financial transactions.

Customers will earn points when they make payments to MTN MoMo merchants for their goods and services via MoMoPay.

Speaking to the media in Bolgatanga, the MTN Mobile Money Implementation Manager in charge of Northern Region, Tawfiq Moomen said as part of the celebration, MTN is giving 200 percent bonus to customers after every top-up from June 6 to August 3, 2019 and at the end of each month 1,000 customers will be rewarded with prizes including Hyundai i10 salon car, Samsung TV sets and E-cash.

Mr. Moomen said the mobile money platform has come to stay and subscribers have to learn to protect their passwords and keep them away from others.

“Never share your Personal Identification Number (PIN) with anyone even your brother or sister. The moment you compromise that, then any person can get into your account and do so many things. ” He warned.
