The office of the National Road Safety Commission in the Upper East Region has disclosed that a total of 43 persons were killed in road crashes between January and June 2019.

These crashes and deaths were recorded from different districts and municipalities in the region.

Speaking on the Road Safety programme on A1 Radio on Thursday, July 25, the Upper East Regional Director of the National Road Safety Commission, Dennis Yeribu said out of the 43 persons who were killed, 10 were females, while the remaining 33 were males.

Many of the cases were as a result of human errors and could have been prevented if the drivers, riders and pedestrians using the road had been a little more tolerant, patient and careful on the road.

The Road Safety programme on A1 Radio has been hailed as educating members of the public on the proper use of the road and the need for road users to always ensure that their vehicles are in good conditions to be on the road.

Dennis Yeribu is looking forward to less cases by the end of the year 2019, considering ongoing public education programmes in the region.
