Touching Pictures: First Lady of Ghana saves lives of hundreds of vulnerable residents in UER

Hundreds of vulnerable residents in the Upper East Region of Ghana have been saved by the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo Addo through her Medical Outreach Project under “The Rebecca Foundation” .

These beneficiaries have been offered free general health services such as; testing for ailments like malaria, diabetes, hepatitis, BP, and HIV after counseling for people who consent. They have been given treatment where possible and referrals on complicated cases. Children under age 5 have also been given vitamin A and dewormer.

An 18 Member Team of Doctors, Laboratory Assistants and Nurses from the Foundation led by Dr. Agyekum-Obeng arrived in the region over the weekend to embark on this exercise on Saturday and has so far visited three districts and will wrap up it on Thursday.

There have been an overwhelming attendances recorded with majority of the beneficiaries being the aged and school children.

This initiative, the first of its kind, has been made possible by the collaboration of the Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Tangoba Abayage and the Ghana Health Service. The Beneficiary Districts are Kasena-Nankana West, Builsa South, Bawku West and Nabdam.
