Health workers who are the first point of call in the wake of the covid 19 pandemic are exposed to the virus due to lack of essentials for personal and clients protection.
It is against this reason the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for Talensi Constituency in the Upper East Region, Thomas Duanab Wuni has donated boxes of medically approved hand sanitizers to all health facilities in the Talensi district.
The situation in most cases have pressured health workers to abandon patients with similar symptoms of the coronavirus and abscond for safety.
But Mr. Duanab said he was worried about the situation hence, his contributions to help protect the lives of health workers in the District.
“Hand cleanliness is what we are looking at and I hope this will support our frontline workers. It is my prayer that frontline workers don’t get infected before we take care of our communities”, Mr. Duanab said.
Mr. Duanab who promised to procure Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) encouraged nurses and other frontline health workers not to relent in this trial times of the fight against the novel coronavirus.
“I was thinking about some PPEs but unfortunately, if you go buying in the market, you may not get the right standard so we want to see what the central government is going to give to us first then it will inform us on what type of PPEs we will bring around”, he indicated.
Talensi district director of health services, Estella Abazesi thanked Mr. Duanab for the gesture and indicated that the hand sanitizers will aid them to follow the protocols for infection control.
Meanwhile,the DCE for Talensi, Dr.Christopher Boatbil who joined in donating the hand sanitizers thanked the parliamentary candidate and called for other benevolent persons to emulate same.
