You donated ‘Spirit’ to my people but lied it was Hand Sanitizers,Why?- NDC MP quizzes NPP PC

Parliamentary Candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nabdam Constituency of the Upper East Region, Boniface Gambil has been accused of distributing unapproved Sanitizers to fight Covid19.

Mr. Gambil has donated items as part of his contributions to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in his constituency which included hand sanitizers and other medical essentials.

The donation was to support health facilities and residents in that area to be able to avoid the spread of the disease.

And it has to an extent helped in the creation of public awareness to ensure regular hand washing and disinfection.

His donation came at the time most health facilities were lacking adequate materials to intensify education on the Coronavirus.

The gesture rather created a backlash at the Member of Parliament for Nabdam ,Dr. Kurt Nawane for his inability to intervene swiftly to help protect the residents because of his delay in releasing funds and procuring items.

But Dr. Kurt Nawane in a radio interview with A1 News after gathering resources to procure some items and distributed to his constituents said ,his delay in responding to the situation much earlier was as a result of equally important engagements in parliament that kept him busy.

Dr. Nawane however observed that the items donated earlier by his opponent was done in a rush to score political points which led them to procure unapproved medical essentials.

“One thing I observed when I inspected his donation as I was trying to educate the people on how to use it, was that he had labeled spirit as sanitizers.Am not against donating spirit but if you want to donate spirit, donate spirit and let the people know you donated spirit. But we as leaders cannot do that, because all hand sanitizers are specific, it contains 75 to 95 Percentage of alcohol in a medium.Ordinary spirit, I don’t even know the formula, but is around 40 or even less percentage of alcohol. So why do you deceived people that, it can do the same work as sanitizer?” He asked

He therefore appealed to his constituents to remain calm and observe the precautionary measures to fight Covid19 and not fall to any political gimmick.
