Member of Parliament for Builsa South Constituency in the Upper East Region,Dr Clement Apaak has been reminded to show leadership and stop exhibiting irresponsibility in the fight against Covid19.

Acorrding to a statement from the Communications Directorate of the New Patriotic Party in that constituency, Dr Clement Apaak has developed a lackadaisical form of leadership which does not auger well for development.

The NPP claims that Dr. Apaak has only sponsored a radio jingle on Covid19 but the recently donated few Veronica buckets and liquid soap on his behalf was from the personal funds of one Mr. Caesar Akinkang and not from the MP. This the say,was embarrassing and a show of undedicated leadership.

The NDC MP has also been accused of not personally visiting the constituency since the outbreak of Coronavirus in Ghana unlike other opposition MPs in the region.

The excuses the NPP say have been that ,the MP has been engaged in Parliamentary business which according to them was not cogent enough to warrant his absence.

“The question to Hon. Apaak is ,are his colleague MPs who came down and made donations to their constituents not working in the same parliament with him? How did his colleague MPs get the chance to come down while our MP can’t get that same chance? Is Hon.Dr.Apaak waiting for Builsa South to record confirmed cases of covid-19 before he comes to our aid?they asked .

The NPP added that “Unlike other MPs in the Upper East region notably Hon.James Agalga of Builsa North, Hon. Isaac Adongo of Bolga Central, Hon.B.T. Baba of Talensi, Hon.Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane of Nabdam ,Hon.Edward Bawa of Bongo etc who personally came down to their constituencies and made huge donations of PPEs, veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, gallons of liquid soaps to their district health directorates to support the fight against the spread of covid-19 in their constituencies, the failures and disappointments of Dr.Apaak on his constituents towards the fight against covid-19 in Builsa South constituency keeps increasing each passing day.

The likes of Hon.Joseph Kofi Adda has issued a letter to the Kassena Nankana East Municipal Assembly to use Forty thousand Ghana cedis (GHc40,000.00) of his Common Fund to assist in the efforts of the Municipality in their preparedness plan and activities towards fighting the covid-19.”

The NPP while commending the DCE for Builsa South ,Kwame Gariba and the Regional Security Council(REGSEC) for their swift intervention on the fight against Covid19, castigated the MP for not showing responsible leadership.

“If it had been about paying for the transportation and busing electorates of Builsa South in Accra to come home to register and vote for him, he would bused over thousands of electorates into the constituency more than any of his colleague MPs who have also left their duties to show concern to their constituents. We are therefore using this medium and other media to call on Hon.Dr.Apaak to as a matter of urgency show leadership within a week time with donations to the health directorate and stop his lukewarm attitude towards the fight against covid-19 in Builsa South because to whom much is given, much is expected”. They noted.
