Receiving their respective packages of the donation on behalf of their facilities, Abubakar Sadique Dawda, a nurse at the Bolgatanga Health Centre, Antoinette Ayamdoo, In-charge at Coronation Health Centre and Atanga Asumbere, Administrator of Amiah Hospital, expressed their gratitude to UMABO for the gesture and assured the union that they would put the items into good use.

Speaking to the media after the donation exercise, President of UMABO, Vincent Asigri congratulated all health workers for their dedication and professionalism in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic and urged them to keep up the good work.

According to him, the gesture from the union to the facilities was made possible through contributions from members. He paid glowing tribute to all members of UMABO for their commitment to the course of the union.

He said, “Special as we are as May Borns, it is our duty to protect, provide, and to exemplify positive activities in the month of May, the reason we saw as a need to contribute the little things we can to support these health facilities in the Municipality to help fight the spread of the virus”.

“As the custom of the union demands, we usually celebrate May 31 as what we refer to as ‘Our Day.’ On this last day of the month, members round up their annual activities with a get-together, but this year, as we are not in normal times we have decided to visit these three health facilities to support them with the little items we can. Each member contributed to buying these items”.

Mr Asigri further explained that, “We are carrying out this activity today on the 29th of May because 31st will be a Sunday and it will not favor some of our executives to be present hence, we chose the last working day of the month”.
