Customers of defunct and collapsed Banks in the Upper East Region have given the seat of government a two week ultimatum to either pay their funds or ready to share the Jubilee house with them.

They say, they were ready to risk their lives during this pandemic period to go to the Jubilee House and demonstrate if the government continues to give them empty promises of their hard earned lockup money.

The depositors said, they will make sure that all their members register for the new voter’s card which they will use it to vote against President Nana Akuffo Add and his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in December 7 for their empty promises.

Mrs. Justina Achana who spoke on behalf of the group during a press conference said “What sort of wickedness is this? How can you take someone’s money for 5 good years and say you would not add interest to it? Many of our businesses have collapsed; we lost our loved ones and some died from shocks and pains. Even many of them could not pay their medical bills for surgeries which could have otherwise saved their lives rather they died”.

She added, “A lot of us are having underlying health conditions and cannot deal with this financial pressure. Some of our members’ wives have deserted them because they could not properly take care of them”.

The aggrieved Customers numbering over 2,500, therefore threatened the government to either pay their money or risk losing their vote as they will make sure all their members across the country will vote against it come December 7 election.
