4 INMATES TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 IN BOLGATANGA

Four inmates have tested positive for Covid-19 at the Bolgatanga Divisional Police cells in the Upper East Region.

The Public Relations Officer at the Upper East Regional Police Command, ASP David Fianko-Okyere, comfirmed this to A1 Radio in an interview.

“When I did the confirmation it came out that four of our inmates have tested positive for the virus. And we are in the process of ensuring that their health and safety are paramount. what happened was that whenever there is an inmate under our custody; there is only the need for the police administration to conduct the COVID-19 test on him or her and it was this reason that we were able to identify these four inmates.” He explained.

To ensure the safety of other inmates, ASP Fianko -Okyere noted that the Police Service was working closely with the health professionals in the region to help prevent the spread of the deadly virus in the cells.

He said “We are on course and we have made sure these infected inmates do not get their colleagues infected. Quite apart from that, these infected inmates according to the health professionals are asymptomatic; but we are still working within the clock to protect their colleagues and ourselves”, he added.

ASP. Fianko -Okyere, , further stated that his outfit had taken steps to give much education on Covid-19 to their officers across the various police stations and posts in the region.

He added that “Per our works daily, we come into contact with people from various places so the safety protocols are usually observed. So there is no need to worry.”
