A selected number of personnel under the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) would be absorbed into permanent employment with the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), through a conscious programme at the end of the year.

According to a story published by graphic.com.gh, the Commissioner of Customs, Col Kwadwo Damoah (retd), revealed this while addressing officers in the Oti Region last Friday as part of a tour of the region.

He said the GRA board had given consent for his outfit to recruit some officers to replace the high number of staff who had retired in recent years.

Describing the situation on the ground, Col Damoah said “We don’t have the men at all. Any location that you find our men, they are outnumbered by the Immigration Service. in some cases by more than two, three or 10 times. For instance, at Tinjase, whereas we have 16 officers, they {Immigration} have 46 officers; and then at Ahamasu, they have 6, we have one officer”

He noted that the selected NABCO personnel, before their engagement as full time officers, will undergo training at the Customs Academy.
