Former President John Dramani Mahama has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of virtually superintending over corruption in his government.

He said corruption is all one sees in the Akufo-Addo-led government.

The former president, who is also the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), said since assuming office, President Akufo-Addo has borrowed about GH¢157 billion with nothing to show for it.

“Today, we are hungrier than we were in 2016,” Mr Mahama said on Sunday, November 22 at Gambingo in the Bolgatanga East Constituency of the Upper East Region, where he is for a two-day tour.

“Today, we are more sorrowful than we were in 2016. Our economy is completely destroyed. Within four years, this government has borrowed GH¢157 billion.

“Within four years of John Mahama’s administration, I borrowed GH¢56 billion. This government has borrowed GH¢157 billion and yet with the GH¢56 billion, I can point to all these projects. I can point to this community day school.”

He stressed that the Agyapa Minerals Royalties and Power Distribution Services (PDS) deals are evidence that the government is steeped in corruption.

“All you see is corruption. At the time we were in office, they tarred us with the brush of corruption and they made so much noise about it.

“Today, the president is bathing in corruption.  And I say that because the allegations of corruption are of people close to him and that’s why I say he is bathing in it.”
