BESSFA RURAL BANK MANAGER GRABS 2020 MOST RESPECTED CEO AWARD

The General Manager of BESSFA Rural Bank, Alhaji Hayatudeen Awudu Ibrahim, has been adjudged Ghana’s Most Respected CEOs – Regional Category-Upper East at the 2020 Ghana Industry CEOs Awards Ceremony organized by the Business Executive.

The 2020 Ghana Industry CEOs Awards is the third of an annual award scheme aimed at identifying and publicly recognizing the most outstanding Chief Executives in corporate Ghana across a wide range of sectors.

Eligible awardees include CEOs of both private and public sector corporations and institutions.

Awardees are usually selected by the Ghanaian public who will first nominate CEOs for shortlisting, following verification of the nominations; and who will subsequently vote for the shortlisted nominees with those receiving the highest votes in each sector category being declared the winners by the scheme’s official Validation partners.

According to the Organizers, they received over three million nominations forms this year, from which about 644 CEOs for the public nomination exercise covering the various sectors were shortlisted.

Per the statistics, Alhaji Hayatudeen Awudu Ibrahim obtained more recognition than other nominees in the Regional Category (Upper East) and consequent to that decision, the prestigious award was conferred on him at an Awards Night held on 27th November, 2020 at the Movenpic Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

About Alhaji Hayatudeen Awudu Ibrahim

Alhaji Hayatudeen Awudu Ibrahim is an accomplished Chartered Accountant (CA) and a seasoned banker with over fifteen (15) years of experience. He is also an expert in Corporate Governance, Risk Management & Compliance.

Hayatudeen began his banking career with Builsa Community Bank Ltd (Bucobank) in Sandema in the Upper East Region as a Chief Clerk in 2005 and rose through the ranks to the position of General Manager in 2012.

Under his leadership, BucoBank became one of the top five Rural and Community Banks (RCBs) in the country. The Bank gained enviable recognition and received many awards including being the first and only Rural and Community Bank in the northern part of Ghana to be admitted in 2018 and 2019 into the prestigious Ghana Club 100 (GC100) of the Ghana Investment Promotion Center.

In May 2019, Hayatudeen took up a new challenge as the General Manager of Bessfa Rural Bank Ltd at Garu, also in the Upper East Region. He has since initiated aggressive strategies aimed at occupying the topmost position in the rural banking industry within the next four years.

With this objective in mind, he has in less than a year, opened two new branches of the Bank at Nalerigu and Bunkpurugu, both in the newly created North-East Region, and also completed a rebranding exercise which has favorably repositioned the Bank in the market space. The Bank’s service delivery is now of the highest quality resulting in a positive impact on all the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of the Bank.

He also facilitated series of training and capacity-building workshops for Directors and Staff of RCBs over the years on Corporate Governance, the Banks & Specialized Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930), Drafted various policy manuals to guide the operations of RCBs especially in the northern part of Ghana. He has been used as a resource person and guest speaker at various events organized by the ARB Apex Bank Ltd, the Association of Rural Banks, USAID-FinGAP.
