Member of Parliament (MP) for Nabdam Constituency, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, has commissioned a health center at Gundorg Wore-Daah, a suburb of Zanlerigu in the Nabdam district of the Upper East Region yesterday.

The facility, which construction began early this year according to the MP, formed part of his efforts to promote improved healthcare delivery in the area.

Dr. Nawaane who is seeking re-election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in an address to the community members noted that the facility was built with his share of the National Health Insurance Fund.

According to him, the idea of constructing a clinic for the people of the area came to mind when he saw the deplorable state of the structure that is currently serving as health center at the Wore-Daah community.

He hinted that the newly built facility will commence operation on Monday, December 7, adding that the provision of the clinic is to reward the people of Wore-Daah for their loyalty to the NDC party.

Dr. Nawaane, went on to adjure the people to vote massively for him and the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, to continue the developmental projects witnessed under his first term in office as MP for the area.

According to him, though his government is not in power, he has still able to bring development to the area, a reason he wants the people to vote for him and Mr. Mahama in the upcoming elections to put him in a better position to do more for his constituents.

Restating some campaign promises of his party, Dr. Nawaane said “When he (Mr. Mahama) came here, his message was short, the schools that have been destroyed due to the double track system, he says when he comes back into power he will abolish it. He said the health insurance that you people have been paying; when he comes back into power you will not pay a dime. It is going to be free of charge.”

Also speaking at the ceremony, former MP for the area, Moses Asaga implored the constituents to let the kind of euphoria that characterized Dr. Nawaane’s arrival at the event be replicated in the elections come December 7.
