The Nangodi Health Centre in the Nabdam District continues to witness remarkable improvements, thanks to the benevolent efforts of Madam Nabla Stephens, affectionately known by locals as Timpoka Yenzie.
A native of Nangodi who now resides in the United Kingdom, Madam Stephens—together with her friends, particularly Kay and her husband—has donated essential medical equipment to the facility.
The donated items include blood pressure monitors, blood glucose meters, and compressor nebulizers, all aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery in the community.
This intervention follows the facility’s long-standing appeal for support to enhance service quality and meet the growing health needs of residents.
Speaking on behalf of Madam Stephens and her friends, Nyeya Yin highlighted her enduring commitment to the development of Nangodi, especially after learning about the challenges faced by the health centre. He appealed to management to handle the equipment responsibly and ensure they are used for their intended purpose.
Madam Prisca Naambome Yenzie, Director of the Upper East Regional Museum in Bolgatanga and a key advocate for the project, commended the collaborative effort between the donors and the community. She also called on other stakeholders and well-wishers to support the centre further, emphasizing the urgent need to renovate accommodation facilities for health workers.
Mr. Maxwell Avolsore, the officer in charge of the centre, expressed gratitude for the donation and assured that the equipment would be used properly to improve patient care.
The Nabdam District Health Director, Madam Sunoogo Sadia, who was present at the event, reaffirmed her commitment to supervising the staff and ensuring that the people of Nangodi continue to receive quality healthcare services.
