EC IS NOT ONLY INCOMPETENT, BUT VERY CORRUPT – IMANI BOSS

President of IMANI- Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has concluded that Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) is not only incompetent but very corrupt.

His assertion follows the commission’s correction of the total valid votes put out on December 9, during the declaration of results of this year’s general election.

EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, declared the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo as the President-elect based on a total of 13,433,573 valid votes instead of 13,119,460.

In her statement of correcting the anomaly on Thursday, she explained that the initial figure of 13,433,573 used in her declaration was wrong.

Despite indicating that the correction of the figures and its consequential change in the total valid votes cast would not affect the percentage stated for each candidate, Franklin Cudjoe condemned the commission for what he said was its inconsistencies in changing electoral figures on its website.

Stating that the EC has not been helpful, he could not help but agree with the New Patriotic Party which has indicated it would contest the results of the just ended elections in some 5 constituencies.

“Finally I agree with the NPP when it says it will contest the results of five constituencies. The EC hasn’t been helpful.”

“I really couldn’t believe that the EC kept changing figures on its website after admitting making basic math errors. I have now concluded that it is not only incompetent, it is very corrupt!!” He wrote in a Facebook post on Friday.

In a similar move, Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has strongly stated that his party will take legitimate steps to challenge the results of this year’s polls which he believes was dishonestly declared for President Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
