The Upper East Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), William Obeng Adarkwa, is urging executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region to register their protests over the regional collated figures of the just ended presidential elections at the regional secretariat of the commission for redress.

Upper East Regional Secretary of NDC, Donatus Akamugre, in an interview on A1 Radio alleged that the Regional EC Director, on the blind side of NDC’s party Agents, manipulated electoral figures in favor of President Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and sent same to the national collation center as representative of the region’s results of the presidential election.

But reacting to the claims in a separate interview on A1 Radio, Mr. Adarkwa declined to comment on the allegations made by the regional leadership of the NDC that he sent manipulated figures to the national collation center.

According to him, it was prudent the disgruntled leadership of the NDC party make an official complain to his for their grievances to be heard as well as find definite answers to their concerns.

In his view, the regional secretariat of the commission stands clear in their operations; emphasizing that should the leaders of NDC present their grievances to his outfit appropriately, there should be a cooperative response from him to furnish the disgruntled party with a true picture of the situation.

Mr. Adarkwa recounted an incident at the regional premises of the EC last wednesday, where he said, some supporters of a political party besieged his office with concerns over wrong figures they claimed he (Mr. Adarkwa) had dishonestly sent to the national collation center.

But according to him, the aggrieved supporters (whose identity he failed to disclose) expressed gratitude and left his office after he showed them copies of the document he sent to the EC’s national headquarters for the final collation of the election results.

“The figures I sent and the official documents are all there. Any where they see anything untoward; I am ever ready any day to follow them to any body of inquisition; so that I can clear my name and my image. I am here only to serve. My interest is the integrity of the electoral commission. Apart from this I have no other interest. I am here as a public servant who is responsible and must be fair, transparent and firm to all people who appear before me in the course of my work.” He concluded.
