“Our men were up and performing professionally. During the election, the intelligence gathering method was key. Every corner and sector was kept on monitoring mood. We also trained our personnel on how to handle minor issues at the polling stations which they did. All these played key roles that led to a peaceful election we have witnessed.”

According to ASP Fianko, as at Thursday morning when he was granting our interview on radio, he was yet to “receive or see any reports suggesting that there were signs or acts of violence at various polling stations or constituency levels across the Upper East Region.”

Meanwhile, the Upper East Regional Secretary of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Donatus Akamugri Atanga, in a separate interview on A1 Radio revealed that there were isolated cases of violent activities at some polling stations in the region.

“At the Talensi constituency, during the voting, our Constituency Secretary notified us that there were some people at the collation center were holding guns and disturbing the peace of our members. We reported to the police but as I speak, such persons have not been arrested.”

“Also, at the Tempane Constituency, a similar thing happened, which we reported to the district police department; yet nothing has happened. So to say the police conducted themselves professionally without bringing such people to book then I’m sorry.” Mr. Akamugre Retorted.
