In the run up to the December 7 polls, the Upper East Regional Minister and New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for Central Constituency, Tangoba Abayage, had undertaken a lot of projects in the constituency to contribute her quota to improving the living standards of the constituents.

Among many of such projects included the drilling of 30 boreholes for the constituents within a period of one year. In addition, she caused for the repairs of over 20 boreholes and water systems in the constituency.

An excerpt of Ambassador Tangoba’s Facebook post after one of such boreholes was drilled in one of the communities, read, “One of my three key development agenda is access to potable water. Access to potable water isn’t just a fundamental human right; it is also one crucial component of women’s development. Access to potable water takes a huge chunk off the burden of women, giving them enough time to engage in other activities and I intend to help take that huge burden off the backs of our women.”

Ghana’s former Ambassador to Italy, also supported 150 youth, selected from all 35 electoral areas of Navrongo Central Constituency to learn a trade: tailoring/dressmaking, hairdressing and barbering.

As part of the support, she paid the apprenticeship fees for all 150 beneficiaries. More so, all 150 beneficiaries were given 70 sewing machines, 35 hairdryers and 35 barbering kits to be used in their training.

Still on youth development, in October 2020, the minister also donated 70 sets of jerseys and 35 footballs to all 35 Electoral Areas in the Navrongo Central Constituency.

On education, Ambassador Tangoba caused for the renovation of a number of  school blocks and also provided dual desks in their thousands to basic schools in the area.

On health, a number of health centers were rehabilitated.

In spite of these and many projects she executed, the constituents in the Navrongo Central rejected her at the polls. She lost with a wide margin to her main contender, Sampson Tangombu Chiragia of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Aside the projects she executed, there were others she promised but could not deliver before the elections. Though the elections are over and she loss, her loss has not weighed her down. Her loss has not discouraged her from fulfilling those promises she made but could not deliver before the elections. She is honouring them one after the other.

The latest promise to have been fulfilled by the minister is the drilling of a borehole for the people of Pungu Central Electoral Area.

This comes barely a week after she redeemed a campaign promise to donate 100 bags of cement each to Nayagenia and Kowania communities to support in the construction of CHPS compounds.

She also redeemed her pledge of a fridge to the Nayagenia make-shift clinic near.
