The Upper East Regional Minister, Tangoba Abayage is urging Ghanaians to share in the joy that God has bestowed on the country. Even though she is aware of the challenges that inundated the country and the world in the year 2020, Madam Tangoba is of the hope that the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world, will create an enabling world for people to live in.
“Our response at Christmas is definitely one of the gratitude and thanksgiving for the gratuitous love of God. We rejoice and are glad for the sheer of humility of God in becoming man for our sake. We take respite in the fact that the new born will show us the way back to salvation and make the world a better place”.
The regional minister said this in a goodwill message to the people of Upper East region as Ghana joins the rest of the world to celebrate Christmas.
Madam Tangoba indicated that the conduct of a “peaceful general election” in the just ended 2020 polls is worth enough for Ghanaians to give thanks to God.
The regional minister who contested the Navrongo Central Constituency under the ticket of the NPP but lost to the NDC candidate, Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, called on Ghanaians to put the elections behind and work together for the growth of the country.
“We may have had varying expectations about the elections, but our ultimate desire was to see a stable and united nation when all the chips are down. By the grace of God, we have crossed the period of anxiety and looking up to a prosperous future in Ghana. I should therefore be justified to call on all people of the region to share in the joy of the season by being grateful to God for his infinite love and blessings on our country Ghana. May the winners be humble and losers gracious”.
She further called on religious leaders to commit the country in their prayers during the Christmas period. While reiterating government’s commitment to procure vaccine for the coronavirus, the minister entreated the public to continue to observe the safety protocols and stay away from places that have been banned – night clubs, cinemas and beaches.
