The Upper East Regional Chairman of the Ghana Physician Assistants Association, Peter Ayamba, has said the Upper East Region is one the worst hit of Covid-19 in the country.

It could be recalled that the Information Minister designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, at a press briefing in Accra yesterday, hinted of a possible imposition of more restrictions if the current surge in Covid-19 cases the country is witnessing continues.

Commenting on the situation on A1radio, Mr. Ayamba opined, the Upper East Region is one of the worst hit in the country.

He said “The 2nd wave is a bit more serious and as we are all aware and have heard from the news that our region {Upper East} is one of the worst hit regions in the 2nd wave, because it is again taking lives; especially those of health workers and I can tell you for the month of January about 9 people have died. The 2nd wave is coming with difference in the presentation and severity because we are getting more severe cases. We are recording more people getting infected.”

Information available to A1 Radio indicates that Covid-19 cases in the Upper East Region continues to soar despite efforts by health workers to sensitize residents of the area on the need to observe all the covid-19 safety protocols.
