Minister designate for Communications and Information ,Ursla Owusu-Ekuful is assuring Ghanaians that government has not considered activating a 5G network.
5G mobile technology is a ten-fold increase in data transmission rates compared to current 4G networks, which will be achieved by using a higher transmission frequency.
The physiological effects of electromagnetic radiation change with frequency, so the advent of 5G triggered a major national concerns about environmental safety.
There have also been international concerns that have led to a review of relevant radiation safety guidelines.
But Madam Ursla said during her vetting that, “There are a lot of myths surrounding 5G, most of which is untrue. Ghana is far away from 5G yet if approved we would have discussions with stakeholders.”
