General Manager, Corporate Banking of GN Bank, Henry Lamptey has debunked remorse that First National Bank has been sold. Mr. Lamptey said First National Bank has not been sold out but the name had to be changed to distinguish it from other universal banks bearing the same name in other parts of the world. Mr. Lamptey said this on Wednesday in Bolgatanga during the launch of GN Bank formerly First National Bank as a universal bank.

According to Mr. Lamptey the bank has only been rebranded but its core values and corporate mission focusing on providing excellent and accessible banking services to the ordinary citizen and creating wealth for stakeholders among other things, still remains. He said the new name came with a new logo to offer more and better services and products to its clients. Mr. Lamptey itemized some of its services as local and international money transfer.

Chief Executive Officer of GN Bank Patrick Anumel said the financial institution started eight years ago as a Savings and Loans company. The CEO of GN Bank added that they could boast of 103 branches nationwide as at the end of August in all the 10 regions in the country with current staff strength of 1,530.

Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Daniel Syme during the launching of the bank lauded the bank for contributing towards complementing government efforts at reducing unemployment by creating employment opportunities to the unemployed youth of the region and Ghana at large. Mr. Syme commended the bank for initiating core services that promoted socio-economic development of the region for offering credit facilities to clients to improve upon their businesses.
