A former Nabdam Constituency Executive and patron of the New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region, Charles Taliug Ndanbon has advised party members routing for Dr. Bawumia and Alan Kyeremanteng for the 2024 flagbearer position, to tone down.

Mr. Ndanbon is of the view that the unsolicited campaigns and mentioning of their names during interviews and on people’s social media handles have come too early and has the tendency to drive a wedge between the two, even before they officially declare their interest in the position.

According to Mr. Ndanbon, the time for nomination for the flagbearer elections will be done later and until that time comes, people should give these two men the peace of mind to work for Ghana and the New Patriotic Party.

Charles Ndanbon as popularly known was speaking in an interview with a1radioonline.com over the latent campaigns being staged for Dr. Bawumia and Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng to lead the New Patriotic Party to the 2024 General Election.

“I have realized that some people are busily campaigning for these people; the people have not even announced their interest in becoming the flagbearer. What we need at this moment is peace in the NPP so that the government led by Nana Akufo-Addo can also have the peace of mind to work. The way people have started, I will not be surprised if we start seeing divisions even at the grassroots. I will suggest that we all concentrate and play any role that we have been assigned in the NPP. President has not even finished with his appointments. I want all the people doing that to stop igniting rivalry at this early stage. It will not help the party.”

It is an open secret that from the beginning of this year, some posters started circulating on social media announcing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the right flagbearer from the NPP come 2024. Similarly, there is also another group also spreading posters of Alan Kyeremanteng for the same position.

According to Mr. Ndanbon, the fact that the two men have not spoken publicly about the practice is an indication that they are busily concentrating on their assigned duties and wants party members behind these campaigns for their personal interest to cease and allow the party to work.

“Can you imagine this? The party has not even finished with Constituency, Regional and National elections to even select the delegates for the flagbearer election and we are here busily working hard on something that could separate these two men and the followers. If they are not able to work together, the party will suffer and the country may not even benefit much from them.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Ndanbon has advised all regional and constituency executives not to join the unsolicited campaigns and rather concentrate on their duties said for the progress of the New Patriotic Party people should stop calling for the dismissal of some executives and rather allow them to work in peace for the good of the party.

In 2018 Mr. Charles Ndanbon contested for the regional organizer of the New Patriotic Party and lost narrowly to the incumbent regional organizer, Jerry Asamani. It is not clear if Mr. Ndandon has over his defeat to be able to contest again.

“I have resolved to work for the party quietly for now. When the nominations are opened and I decide to contest, I will announce it. NPP members should not jump the gun, let’s work hard for the party and the country”
