Farmers in the Upper East Region have called on government to consider clustering the 1Village 1 Dam policy rather than the haphazard construction of dugouts that cannot contain water for dry season farming.

Government as part of it’s strategies to boost the agricultural sector in Northern part of Ghana embarked on the construction of dams for dry season farming under the Ministry of Special Initiative Development.

However, this policy hit a snack because of the poor engineering in the construction of these dams.

Although the 2021 budget has been silent on this 1V1D policy, speaking to A1radionline.com, some farmers said, though the novel policy of 1V1D is commendedable , the implementation has not been properly done.

A lead farmer and former Assembly Member for Gambibgo Electoral area in Bolgatanga-East District spoke on behalf some dry season farmers in an exclusive interview at their farms.
