Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has called on all stakeholders to see the Bolgatanga Municipality as the eye of the region, which needs more development to grow.

According to him, if the regional capital does not develop and expand, the region will not receive the needed respect like other regions.

Speaking at the first 2021 Ordinary Meeting of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, Mr. Yakubu noted that the region can only be recognized nationally when its capital town gets the needed development and expansion.

“I am a Bawku man but anytime I am passing through Bolgatanga, I think about Bolgatanga. I always ask myself when will we develop our region. And as Bolgatanga is the eye of the region, so I think we all need to develop it. And also developed our mentality that we all need to come together with our wisdom and strength to develop this region, with first focus on the regional capital.” The Regional Minister said.

He also stressed that: “People will only respect us when they see Bolgatanga and the same way, they disrespect us if the region is underdeveloped. So, we ought to break new grounds for our developmental achievements. We still have a reason to move the municipality higher. As we are all fighting for one common course, I, therefore, call on you all to come together and work for that common course.”

The meeting, which sort to highlight the performance of the municipality and integrate new policies for growth, brought together assembly members from various electoral areas as well as departmental heads within the Municipality.

The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Joseph Amiyuure Atura however encouraged the assembly members to be circumspect in observing the necessary policies for the growth of the municipality.
