Residents of Tanzui and Sabon Zongo Nawuma Electoral Areas in the Bolgatanga Municipality are calling on authorities as a matter of urgency to take pragmatic steps in dealing with the growing insanitary state of the two Electoral Areas within the municipality.

In an interview on DayBreak Upper East show how on A1 Radio, the Assembly Member for the Tanzui Electoral Area, Stephen Adongo expressed worry about the unhygienic conditions in his Electoral Area.

According to Mr Adongo, authorities at the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly are very much aware of the sanitation challenge in the Tanzui Electoral Area, yet nothing is being done to address the situation.

Mr Adongo called on the assembly to take immediate steps to address the situation while urging residents to be responsible in how they dispose off their waste.

In a similar situation, residents of the Sabon Zongo Nawuma Electoral Area are calling on authorities and stakeholders to come to their aid by addressing their sanitation challenge.

According to residents, the drainage system in the electoral area is choked with solid waste which makes it difficult for the free flow of water.

The worried residents say, the situation is not only a breeding ground for mosquitoes but they can get infected with a contagious disease such as cholera when the rains set in.
