Member of Parliament for the Builsa South Constituency, Dr. Clement Apaak has thrown his support behind the #Fix the country campaign that is currently gaining momentum especially among the youth on social media.

Fix the country campaign is an initiative that was introduced by Ghanaians on social media to drum home what they call the economic challenges in the country and have declared May 9th April to protest.

The angry Ghanaians who took to social media to vent their anger say the successive government has failed to improve the living standards of Ghanaians citing the recent ‘dumsor’, increasing fuel and electricity prices among other challenges in the country.

Speaking in an interview on Day Break Upper East show on A1 Radio, Dr. Apaak said he is supporting the campaign simply because the cost of living in the country has become unbearable and there is the need for government

Dr Apaak said he is happy that finally, the youth of the country are coming to the realization that they are not getting value for money from the persons who are in charge of the affairs of the nation.

He said “…no country in the world at the moment, has imposed taxes and is asking its citizens to sacrifice when “…indeed if you look at the allocation to the office of government machinery, there is nothing to indicate that this government is practicing austerity.”

The Builsa South legislature described the movement as organic and it is not a product of any political plan or strategy but rather the people now know “they have been dealt with by raw hands because almost everything that they need to make their life better is either too expensive or not there.”

Dr Apaak said fix the country is not a party matter or an NDC issue it is a Ghanaian issue and hence his support for it.
