Ghana Police Service in collaboration with the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly of the Upper East Region has organised a clean up exercise in the central business district of the municipality.
The exercise, which was led by the Upper East Regional Police Commander DCOP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba, on Saturday, June 5, 2021 saw about two hundred and sixty-seven (267) police personnel join staff of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly in a clean up exercise within the Bolgatanga Municipality.
The police personnel drawn from the Regional Headquarters formations, Bolgatanga Division and Police Public Safety Training school (PPSTS) Pwalugu, as well as some workers of Zoomlion desilted choked gutters, streets of Goil- Bawku highway, Fountain Gate Chapel, Regional Police Headquarters, commercial street and also cleared dump sites within the municipality.
Upper East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba, said the exercise was part of the Ghana Police Service’s contribution towards ensuring a clean environment within the Bolgatanga Municipality .
He expressed, his appreciation to the personnel for the attendance, commitment and enthusiasm exhibited during and after the exercise.
Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Joseph Amiyuure, also thanked personnel for their active involvement in the exercise and indicated that, the exercise was going to be a monthly one to be held on every first Saturday of each month.
Mr Amiyuure, called for the support of the command and other sister security agencies to endeavour to be part of subsequent clean up exercise that the assembly might be organising in the near future.
In attendance were; the Regional Police Commander DCOP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba, the Deputy Regional Police Commander DCOP Alexander Amenyo and other Senior Police Officers from the Regional, Bolgatanga Divisional police command and some staff of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly.
The exercise, which started at the Jubilee Park Bolgatanga at 6.30am ended at 10 .am without any incident.
