NABOCADO – Hungary Helps program provides 1500 mono desks for 20 deprived basic schools in two regions

As part of its advocacy to champion quality education amongst rural children, Navrongo-Bolgatanga Catholic Diocesan Development Organization (NABOCADO) in collaboration with Hungary Helps program has provided 20 deprived basic schools with 1500 mono metal desks in Upper East and North-East Regions.

Navrongo-Bolgatanga Catholic Diocesan Development Organization (NABOCADO) under the Catholic Diocese of Navrongo- Bolgatanga of Ghana has had funding support of HUF100,000, 000.00 equivalent to GHc1.8 million from the Hungary government through its Hungary Helps program in Ghana to help improve the Educational sector, Health, Livelihood and Advocacy, and Good Governance, Justice and Peace Directorate Advocacy within a year.

Given that, NABOCADO used part of the funding to provide 1500 mono metal desks to 10 Primaries and 10 Junior High schools in Upper East and North-East Regions to help minimize pupils sitting on the floor to learn as well as empower and motivate them with the requisite knowledge in education.

Speaking to the media, the Bishop of Navrongo-Bolgatanga Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Alfred Agyenta, noted that the initiative does not only seek to provide a friendly environment for learning but to develop the students’ wellbeing and transformed them into a for seeable future as they are the future builders of the world.

He added that the church will continue to render support to schools without basic amenities to enhance teaching and learning and does not seek to compete with any government in any way in terms of addressing some of the challenges confronting the educational sector.

The Secretary of State of Hungary, Tristan Azbeji, however, applauded the organization for effectively utilizing the fund for its intended purpose.

He added that per the performances of the organization, the people and government of Hungary will continue to support its programs.

Some of the beneficiary pupils thanked the Catholic Diocesan Development Organization and the Hungary government for the timely intervention.

They added that they will make sure the support will bring the educational change they want in the future as they will use the desks to their advantage.
