New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Damongo Constituency of the Savanna Region has debunked allegations making waves on social media that youth in Busunu captured in a video rejected rice donation from Member of Parliament for the area, Samuel Abu Jinapor.

Portions of a statement from the NPP in the constituency released on July 21, 2021 reads “the MP never donated or offered rice to any youth or youth groups in the constituency and, thus, NO such rice could have been rejected. There was, therefore, no such rejection since no youth or group of young persons were given rice let alone for it to be rejected.”

The statement further stated, the MP made donations to Imams, chiefs and queen mothers as part of the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations but not to any youth or youth group so the claims that some youth in Busunu rejected rice donation from the MP is false.

The statement signed by the constituency chairman of the NPP for Damongo, Alhaji Adam Braimah
concludes “remains focused on delivering on his mandate as the representative of the good and dignified people of Damongo Constituency, just as he is committed to continue to contribute to government’s efforts in the realization of the aspirations of the Ghanaian people.”

Below is the press statement

The New Patriotic Party in the Damongo Constituency’s attention has been drawn to a video which suggest that some youth of Busunu rejected rice from their MP.

Firstly, the MP never donated or offered rice to any youth or youth groups in the constituency and, thus, NO such rice could have been rejected. There was, therefore, no such rejection since no youth or group of young persons were given rice let alone for it to be rejected.

As is customary across the country during Eid, the festival of sacrifice and generosity, our MP made donations to Imams, Chiefs and Queen Mothers only.

While it is a fact that the government of President Akufo-Addo has made significant efforts in resolving the age old youth unemployment issue in our country, Damongo Constituency and Busunu inclusive, Hon. Jinapor recognizes that a lot more work remains to be done to bring the issue of youth unemployment to a satisfactory situation. It will require appreciable time and consistent action as is currently being done.

Hon. Jinapor remains focused on delivering on his mandate as the representative of the good and dignified people of Damongo Constituency, just as he is committed to continue to contribute to government’s efforts in the realization of the aspirations of the Ghanaian people.

Thank you
End.

Signed
Alhaji Adam Braimah
Constituency Chairman
New Patriotic Party (NPP)
Damongo Constituency
Savannah Region
